My own theory, and I of course have nothing to support this, the reason why drs never really caught on in amc is that it would have revealed there really isn’t that much retail support for the stock and it’s largely propped up on social media through bot accounts and nitwits. Back in 2021 their vote count came in way below what would be considered normal. Dr T linked me a research paper explaining how with a large retail involvement in a stock where there is a strong belief in profit, you expect to see a large % of votes cast. And if I remember correctly, amc came in like under 50%. But somehow AA kept telling folks they owned like 90% of the company, and there’s no data source that would be able to tell him that.
If drs caught on in the amc crowd, they might’ve begun recognizing they were being lied to about owning so much. And it already should have been highly suspicious since AA was making bonehead decisions and but the community continued to hype it.
